A thing that you don't want is dear at any price

A thing that you don't want is dear at any price

A thing that you don't want is dear at any price. Some people asked me what that proverb meant. Before I answer this question, I should first consider what a proverb is.

Proverbs mean short folk sayings with a cautionary meaning. They express the people's mind and experience, accumulated for many generations. According to proverbs, we can understand the values of the nations. Also, they show different aspects of people's lives.

Well, what does the proverb 'A thing that you do not want is dear at any price' mean? This is a warning for people who like to buy useless things if they are cheap. If you do not want a thing, however cheap it may be, it is dear because it is useless for you. How to use this proverb properly? I am going to explain it on an example.

Imagine two talking friends, Kate and Mary.

Kate: Oh my Gosh! Look at this amazing sale for a cage for birds! I want to buy it.
Mary: If I am not mistaken, you don't have a bird. Am I right?
Kate: Yes, that's true but this cage is so cheap... Where is a cashdesk?
Mary: A think that you don't want is dear at any price...

Well, I hope you understood what that proverb meant. Bear in mind, don't buy a thing you don't need just because of its cheapness.

A flu epidemic

A flu epidemic

It is common knowledge that nowadays there are a lot of dangerous infections in the world. They are a flu epidemic, ebola, pox and others.

Today I am going to tell you about really dangerous infection, a flu epidemic.

Flu is an infectious disease, the causative agent of which is the virus. The symptoms of it are heat, chills, fatigue, headache, runny nose or nasal congestion, cough and muscle pain.

Imagine, you have got a flue infection. What should you do? Firstly, you should stay at home and follow bed reat. Secondly, you are to call a doctor and follow all his advice. Thirdly, take medicines timely. And fourthly, drink a lot of water.

It is obvious that all people do not want to get this terrible, hardly bearable illness. That's why there are some tips which you can follow and chances of getting flu will decrease. For a start, eat as many products with vitamin C as you can. They are cranberry, lingonberry, lemon, orange and other fruits and berries. Moreover, wash your hands carefully and observe nose's hygiene. And last but not least, lead a healthy lifestyle. Nevertheless, the most effective prevention is a graft from flu.

There is a huge dangerous to people's lives because of flu. There are a lot of complications. For example, pneumonia, bronchitis, otitis, meningitis and many others.

To sum up, I would like to wish you great health. Take care of you and your health. As william Shakespeare said, health is more precious than gold.

Total topic of 2nd Module

Total topic of the second Module

  • It is common knowledge that people face with challenges in their lives. Challenge is an invitation to do something difficult, funny or embarrasing. In other meaning, it means a painful experience.
  • I am going to tell you about challenges in people's lives.
  • A lot of people ask themselves: 'What challenge am I looking for?' I  try to answer this question. If you're looking for the adventure of a lifetime, bungee jumping into the active volcano in Chile is definitely for you! If you are a fan of qiuz programmes, University Challenge is right for you! Speaking about dangerous challenges, there is an awesome opportunity to climb the mount Elbrus, which remains the highest mountain in Europe. Also sport movies can cause some changes inside your heart and make you challenge yourself, such as Cool Runnings which is  the movie about a man, starting Jamaica's first Olympic bobsledding team. According to the physical challenges, "training weekend" is the best way to try yourself in undertaking a mounts trek!
  • However, there are really painful experience. For example, the challenge of the Masai tribes. They live in the Serengeti. The name for it comes from the Masai word that means 'the place where the land runs on forever'. The Masai were once free to roam but now they are not. Since 1959 they've been confined to one small part of the Serengeti, the Ngorongo. In the past 50 years the Masai population increased from 10000 to 50000 people. The result is that there are too many people and too few resourses to support their traditional way of life. Large scale farming will affect the area's natural habitat. Also, it is worrying because of how it might affect the animals in the conservation areas. Moreover, yet the conservation authorities do not want to provide the Masai with a reliable water supply. This is because they do not want to encourage permanent settlements within the conservation area. The Masai are only allowed to live in the area as normands. The Masai have other ideas. They have no intention of being moved on again. Now it becomes obvious that the Masai are making the long, slow transition to a more modern way of life with the using of mobile phones and some kinds of technical things. The challenge of the Masai tribes was to survive on the small territory with a lack of water supply.
  • Nevertheless, there are challenges in nature, for examle, the Burning World. It describes a world in which water is scarce. After an extensive drought, rivers have turned to trickles and the earth have turned to dust, causing the world's population to head toward the oceans in a search of water. The drought is caused by industrial waste flushed into the ocean, which form an oxygen-permeable barrier of saturated long-chain polymers that prevents evaporation and destroys the precipitation cycle.
  • Well, to sum up, I would like to say that there are a lot of kinds of challenges like painful ones and challenges for fun. There are something in common between these two different challenges. Both must be overcome because it is a purpose of them.
